Iron Orchid Designs transfers make furniture look amazing. I wish I had taken a picture of this piece before I started. It was horrible. The top had scratches and damage and overall it was just bad. I sanded the top and tried to get all the scratches out. Most were superficial. I gave it a coat of Zinsser Shellac to even out the sanded and non-sanded places and then I gave it two coats of Little Black Dress by DIY paint. After allowing it to dry for a day or so I put on a coat of DIY Big Top. A top coat allows the transfer to adhere better and I recommend that you use one after your pain dries.
The video shows how I placed the transfer and the process of "burnishing" it to make it adhere. One of the great things about these transfers is that you can choose what you want and where you want it, and consequently are sometimes able to get a couple of projects completed with just one transfer. I love the final look and the fact that it turned this throw-away piece of furniture in to a stunning one!
